Magpie Memories is a deeply personal body of work by Melbourne artist Mimby Jones Robinson—created in memory of her sister Shellbee, who passed away from breast cancer. Since her loss, Mimby has felt her sister’s presence most strongly through magpies, transforming grief into a visual language of connection, remembrance and love.

‘She Rests’ captures a quiet, grounded moment—a magpie perched in stillness against a field of vivid pink, Shellbee’s favourite colour. Crowned in gold, she is honoured as “angel queen,” a symbol of enduring love that transcends physical presence. The composition evokes calm, reflection and the gentle feeling of being watched over.
