Kakī (Black Stilt) Conservation Artwork

Original acrylic painting of a Kakī - one of the rarest wading birds in the world, found only in New Zealand's braided rivers of the Mackenzie Basin.

Painting Specifications:

18x24 inch, 1 inch deep stretch canvas, unframed. Will come with Certificate of Authenticity.

The Kakī is critically endangered, with fewer than 200 adults left in the wild, however, this is well above the low of 23 in the 1980s. This piece was painted specifically for Bird of the Year (2026), as a way to put a spotlight on one of our least-known native birds.

30% of the final sale price will be donated to Forest & Bird, supporting native species and habitat conservation in New Zealand.
