The creation and the home of the legendary Chris and Charlotte McBride, this is a true bush afficionado's dream destination.  A renowned authority (and published author) on lions, Chris McBride is an avid student of wildlife and has lived in Timbavati and other areas of the African bush since he was a child.  Charlotte has also spent much of her life in the bush , especially during her childhood, where she lived with her parents in the wilds of Zambia. She has many years of experience in running game lodges and will make you feel at home.

The camp has seven private thatched two-person chalets with en suite bathrooms. An open dining room with a spectacular view over a long section of the Kafue River can accommodate fifteen people. There is a separate bar with similar views of the river.

The thatched two person chalets with en suite bathrooms. Beds have mosquito nets and each chalet has hot and cold running water, modern ablutions with a shower.

Each chalet has a unique view, either of the river or the bush. A comfortable verandah allows one to view the many species of birds and wildlife from the chalet.

Chalets are built in the traditional fashion and consist almost entirely of natural materials available in the area, thereby adding to the African Safari experience.

Walking is a real highlight here and a walk with either Chris or Charlotte is a fabulous experience.  McBrides also offers boat cruises on their famous double decked boat as well as game drives, night game drives and fishing excursions.  

Please note that this auction offering also includes a night in their remote west bank bush camp or satellite camp near the river 14 kilometres downstream from our present camp. An ideal base for bush walks, the Bush Camp overlooks a traditional buffalo drinking place, from which at least 9 well-used game paths converge on the river. Herds of up to 400 to 600 drink there. There is a healthy pride of golden lions in the area as well, and the spot is pristine and very wild. This camp is rustic but comfortable, as is our style, and cater for a maximum of 8 people. It can be reached by a 3.5 hour drift on our Pontoon boat, the Fish Eagle, with good game viewing, especially in the dry season, from the upper deck; or by a 3.5 hour walk from our camp. Guests can also chose which option to use for the return to our camp.

Th epackage comprises: Three nights fully inclusive comprising all meals, snacks, hot drinks and laundry. Two nights at our main camp and one night at our tented bushcamp, 14km downstream from the main camp. Activities include One bush walk, one visit to the hot springs, one river cruise and one game drive. The package excludes government service charge, Park fees, bar drinks and transfers to and from the lodge. T&C's apply.
