Sandra Pokorny (Velasquez) – A Cowboys Dream

With a minor in art from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Sandra Pokorny has continued to study art over the years. Her work is whimsical at times, serious at others. Inspiration for this piece is “A Cowboy’s Dream:  Homage to BC Gilbert, Holling C. Holling and Jenny Perry.  She likes to experiment with new subject matter in all mediums, from cowgirls to women from the Mexican Revolution, the current combining of her own version of famous pieces into funny visual humor. Pokorny’s work is inspired by the strong women in her family, by the concept that everything can be an element of a painting if you look hard enough, and by the idea that there is something better out there that can be captured on canvas if you just keep trying.
