Nancy Waterhouse’s interest in clay began with the art of making mud pies as a child. It was not until a New Jersey studio pottery class ten years ago, however, that she fell completely under its spell. Although she honed her skills and techniques on a potter’s wheel, hand-building dominates her practice today. Through the use of templates she gains the freedom to experiment with texture, color, and embellishments in her stoneware. Nancy lives and works in Bluffton, where she is represented by the Four Corners Gallery. She continues to take classes in Savannah, Georgia and at the Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts in the Catskill Mountains.
