Phil Doetzel has had a keen interest in photography for much of his life but only the innovations of the digital age and the freedom of retirement shifted that interest into passion. While his focus has largely been on landscape and travel photography, recent work has included street scenes and his new, primary interest: abstracts. In his abstract/impressionistic photos of Lowcountry landscapes, images are created in-camera through intentional camera movement.
Phil moved from Connecticut to Palmetto Bluff in 2015, although he and his wife still spend their summers up north. As a member of the Artists of Palmetto Bluff, his work has been exhibited several times in local shows.
