Claudia Gioseffi Zaik can not recall a time when she did not draw or paint. After studying with local artists as a child, she majored in art and literature in college. Memories and her surroundings inspire her, and she finds the richness and translucence of oil paints best express her ideas. Her technique involves layering color, allowing some earlier, transparent layers to show through, continuously combining past and present. She’s had solo exhibitions at Hespe Gallery in San Francisco, Expressions Fine Art in Santa Fe, and Robert Mondavi Gallery in St. Helena. Group exhibitions include Finch Gallery, New York City, Hespe Gallery, San Francisco, Mandeville Gallery, Schenectady, Atlas Gallery, Chicago, Artists of the Bluff, and SOBA Gallery, Bluffton.
