About the Artist
By day Julie Byles is a researcher investigating women’s health and ageing. Her work considers changes across the life course and how people adapt to these events. Whether it is childbirth, weight change, onset of disease or disability, or loss, human beings show great adaptability. This ability to respond, adapt, and make sense of our lives is essential to ageing well. When left to run wild, Julie takes up her pastels to draw up a storm.
She found her colours through Tuesday nights at Ann Caddey’s Drawing Room life drawing sessions. Now, she increasingly combines work life and art life, with her most recent exhibition held as part of the 2021 Australian Association Gerontology conference featuring portraits of people with dementia enjoying the best of life.
The bid increment was changed from $1 to $20.
