About this item

Description: This stool brings together sustainable material choices and traditional craft heritage in a contemporary form. The frame is made from durable white oak, and the seat is woven with recycled PET cord (RPET), a material chosen for its longevity and circular potential. By minimizing cord cutting, the design anticipates its own end-of-life cycle, allowing the cords to be more easily recovered and reused.
The weaving technique draws inspiration from Danish cord-seat traditions, while the vibrant pattern is influenced by Dan-Chung, a Korean decorative motif. This cross-cultural dialogue underscores that preserving and reinterpreting craft is itself a form of sustainable practice—passing forward knowledge, skills, and cultural memory. Unlike traditional paper cord, the RPET cord extends the lifespan of the object while maintaining the tactile, human quality of hand weaving.
This work reflects a modern take on sustainability: uniting renewable materials, responsible design decisions, and the preservation of traditional craft as a living, evolving practice.
