Funaki 30th Anniversary Secondary Exhibition

NB: Buy it now prices will become visible when the auction goes live.

For 30 years, Funaki has been a by-word for cutting edge, artist-made jewellery. Opened in 1995 by Japanese Australian artist Mari Funaki, the gallery showcased the highest quality art jewellery and objects from around the world, without compromise.

For 25 years, Gallery Funaki was tucked away in a small laneway at the 'Paris end' of Naarm / Melbourne, a tiny shoebox of a space that hosted important solo and group exhibitions by local and international artists. Despite its diminutive size, the gallery's clear and rigorous philosophy helped put Melbourne on the contemporary craft map.

The gallery now operates from an architect-designed gallery apartment and continues to promote emerging and established makers worldwide.

To mark the 30 year milestone, Funaki Gallery is looking back and celebrating more than 160 exhibitions and the nearly 100 artists, past and present, who have helped make the gallery a world-leader in contemporary jewellery.

This auction offers up some beloved pieces dating from the very earliest days of the gallery, through to more recent times. It features works by some of our longest standing artists, as well as those who made guest appearances. It's an eclectic mix of editioned, one-off, museum quality collectors' and easy everyday-wear pieces.

Have no doubt, there's something here for anyone with a design eye and a taste for jewellery that's anything but dull.
