Mary Todd Beam is renowned for her collage work and mastery of acrylic painting. This piece exemplifies her style, combining figures and fields of color in dreamy purple and cream hues. Bodies seem to materialize and fade across a sunset landscape, hands raised high in exaltation. The composition is bookended on left and right with vertical, painted bands of mauve and violet. Mary Todd Beam (1931 – 2022) was a nationally-recognized artist and elected member of the American Watercolor Society. She won many awards and was a Dolphin Fellow, winning the Gold Medal of Honor in 1996 and 2002. Her work was in several major exhibits, corporate and private collections in the U.S. and abroad. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Art and authored two books, Celebrate Your Creative Self and The Creative Edge.
