Maia Leppo was Artist-in-Residence at Arrowmont during the 2016 wildfires. When residents and staff were allowed back on campus, she discovered pieces out of the ashes she could use in her metal jewelry. This necklace is made from a fire-scorched steel washer lifted from the aftermath of the fires at Arrowmont.
Maia Leppo operates her studio at the Brew House Association on the south side of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Tufts University with a BA in Biology and Community Health and received an MFA from SUNY New Paltz. Leppo received additional training in jewelry and metals from various craft schools including Arrowmont, Pocosin Arts, Penland School of Craft and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. maialeppo.com
