“I love glass. It is not like the other materials we live with day in and day out. Soft, fluid and malleable when molten and hard, sharp, rigid when cold. It is a connection to the ancients, a dialog. Art glass captures what the human eye leaves behind, and words cannot express. I consider myself nothing less than a chronicler of the human condition, for better or worse.”
Gil Reynolds built his reputation as a leading innovator of glass fusing and kiln forming techniques through his studio, Fusion Glassworks. Father of today’s Kiln Formed Glass movement, he educated others through his books, innumerable magazine articles, and online YouTube and Glass Art magazine’s Glass Expert Webinars™. Reynolds authored books, The Fused Glass Handbook and Kiln Crafting. Since 1987, Reynolds’ Fusion Headquarters Inc. has supplied kilnworking artists around the world with glass, tools, and supplies, some developed by Reynolds himself. n 1993 he founded Hot Glass Horizons (HGH), a seminar event for glass fusing and other hot glass techniques. His artwork is included in private and public spaces including The Allison Hotel and Spa, Newberg, Oregon; Ohbayahsi-Gumi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan; A. Pfann, Hilversum, Holland; Del Webb at Mirehaven, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Percent for Art commissions in Oregon and Washington State.
