"The dulcimer guitar, also known as a dulcitar or strumstick, is a delightfully simple instrument that sounds simply delightful. It’s both fun to play and fun to build, especially when you’re building one with Beth Ireland."  

Beth Ireland created this Dulcimer during her 2021 LEGACY: Appalachian Art for Appalachian Teachers workshop. This custom dulcimer includes a unique painted, carved and burned drawing on the soundboard and curving around the bridge to the tail of the instrument. Abstract geometric forms reminiscent of board game pieces create a visual pathway, complimented by dark sage green milkpaint. This dulcimer guitar is tuned to G-D-G.

Beth Ireland lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Florida where her studio provides woodworking with a specialization in architectural and artistic woodturning. She earned her undergraduate degree from the State University College at Buffalo and an MFA in Sculpture from the Massachusetts College of Art. Ireland has been involved in a traveling art/craft project entitled Turning Around America since 2010. She also teaches the three-month Professional Woodturning Intensive at The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. bethireland.net
