Rainbow Dreamwheel ($75 value) - Beth Threlfall
About this item
A large part of Beth’s artistic practice involves re-imagining everyday objects and transforming them from unwanted junk into objects of beauty. As a society, we are overwhelmed with disposable items that, while manufactured for a purpose, all too often get discarded while there is still some use to them. “I like to rescue these items and artistically recycle them into objects that beautify the environment,” she says.
Hubcaps are ideal for this purpose: while seen by most as mere castoffs abandoned at the curb, in parking lots, or highway pull-offs, each has a unique shape that lends itself to transformation. While most people would simply consider lost or discarded hubcaps as little more than roadside trash, Beth saw in them the possibility for art.
