Third Culture Seas by Su Mei Tan

Drawing from inspiration of living in several continents before coming to Naarm, Third Culture Seas is a reflection on the fluidity of identity, belonging, and home. This artwork weaves together the shifting landscapes of migration, memory, and cultural hybridity, much like the ebb and flow of the ocean. Layers of texture, movement, and color evoke the ever-changing emotional and physical tides of navigating multiple worlds—where roots are both deep and dispersed, and where the sea becomes a metaphor for the uncharted spaces between cultures.
