THE BLUE DIAMOND CHRISTMAS TREE Annemieke Mein 2022

As with all my textile artworks, this Christmas tree was inspired by the flora and fauna around us in nature. Each decoration has been spray-painted silver to specifically suit the blue-green foliage of the tree.

Decorations include

A blue ‘diamond’, Eucalypt leaves, Eucalypt nuts, Banksia serrata leaves, Hakea flowers, Integrifolia pod, Veined leaves, Pinecone, Christmas beetle, Butterflies, Case moths, Grasshopper, Dragonfly, Bee, Wasp, Paper wasp nest, Cicada shells, Spider, Scorpion, Ladybird beetle, Longhorn beetle, Fly, Millipede, Praying mantis, Sea worm casing, Starfish, Shells, Seahorse charm, Snail shells, Sea urchin shell piece, Wire heart, Jawbone (herbivore), Wish bone, Silver glittery bird, Bird nest (Eastern Spinebill), Frogs, FeathersFake bird’s eggs, Emu feathers, Emperor gum moth cocoon, Bird skull, A M wooden letters.

Tree species – Picea pungens ‘Blue Diamond’.

Decorations are attached with 30-gauge jewellery wire and silver elastic.

The silver spray paint used was Dulux Duramax.

Donated by Annemieke Mein 2022 for auction with the proceeds going to the Gippsland Art Gallery Foundation.
