AUTHOR: Louis J. Wortham

TITLE: Texas, From Wilderness to Commonwealth.

PUBLICATION DATA: 1924. Wortham-Molyneaux Company. First Edition.

This handsome 5-volume history of Texas, richly illustrated, reads like an encyclopedia of places, people and industries of the place we love. From the Comanche to the Alamo to cattle drives, it's all here.

Condition report:

Five hardcover volumes, bound in 1/4 leather and green cloth cover boards. Cloth-reinforced hinges and marbled endpapers..The leather spine of Volume One is creased. Some surface rubbing is visible as is wear to spine ends. Top edge gilt has mostly worn off. Bindings remain secure. Volume five contains an index for the whole set.

Why It Matters:

It's hard to find and makes a fine showing on your Texana shelf. We've seen many individual volumes from the Wortham set over the years but this is the first complete set we've handled.
