West Texas historian Gus Clemens compiled this richly illustrated history of the Permian Basin region for the Nita Stewart Haley Library back in 1985. Demonstrating that West Texas was more than just an oil region, Clemens' work is broad in scope - Ice Age hunters, Spanish explorers, Indians, gold rushers, soldiers, railroad builders, cowboys, pioneers....and then, of course, the business and oil history of the modern era.
Condition report:
Covers show a hint of shelf rubbing, otherwise little visible wear. 256 pages. Binding is sound.
Why It Matters:
It's West Texas (who doesn't love West Texas?!) and it's scarce. I take that back....The jacketed trade edition is scarce. Only 35 copies in this binding were produced and are impossible to find...so technically it's rare.
