About this item
Two nights' accommodation in the award-winning Shearers Quarters located on Bruny Island. Completed in 2011, the Shearers Quarters was designed as a companion building to the existing historic cottage on ‘Waterview’, a working sheep farm. Shearers Quarters won The Robin Boyd Award for Residential Architecture – Houses at the AIA National Awards, and ‘Villa’ Project of the Year at the World Architecture Festival, Singapore in 2012.
As part of this weekend, the bidder will be able to visit Captain Kelly’s Cottage, companion to Shearers Quarters which has stood on the cliff edge as sentinel since the late 1830s. Captain Kelly’s Cottage won a RIBA Award for International Excellence in 2018 and was House Interior of the Year at the Dezeen Awards.
Also included in this package is a private lunch prepared by acclaimed chef Luke Burgess, previously of Hobart’s Garagistes and author of recent book Only Tokyo.
Waterview is set on 1350 acres with 6km of private ocean frontage, including several beaches. The property provides a place for creativity and experimentation for JWA staff members, with numerous projects being completed over the years of the Practice. JWA held two ‘Bruny Making’ staff trips over this last summer, with new additions you will discover along the coastal edge including a bridge, brick kiln, and outdoor bathhouse.
This is an exclusive chance to stay in the award-winning property, usually reserved for private guests. Immerse yourself in the Tasmanian landscape with views from within the cosy Shearers Quarters.
