Tashmia Owen is a long time VAWG campaigner and community builder with a background working with young people to enlighten them about sex education and mental health in her community, after years of working in TV and advertising. An accomplished painter and sculptor who graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art. Tashmia created the winner’s trophy for the inaugural Jhalak Prize winning event 2019, a sculpture of a book as a commitment to the enduring power that freedom of expression that literature offers. Tashmia speaks regularly at the WOW festival and is sought by renowned titles from HuffPost to Gal-Dem giving interviews & writing articles, advocating for structural change to institutional frameworks in favour of equity.
