Go behind the glass with orchid curator Val Pintilie on a 1.5-hour tour of two climate-controlled glasshouses. Normally off-limits to the public, these tropical and montane sanctuaries hold over 900 species of dazzling orchids from across the world. 

From rare Australian natives to exotic hybrids, Val will share expert insights on care, conservation, and the stories behind these fascinating plants. 

About your host 

Valeriu Razvan Pintilie is a Senior Horticulturist and orchid specialist at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, responsible for caring for more than 2,000 plants, including 1,300 orchids. With a lifelong passion for horticulture shaped by his family and studies in Romania and the UK, Val has curated the Garden’s orchid collection since 2015.
