We believe that literature and art can play a powerful role in raising awareness and encouraging people to speak up and take action – as well as raising much needed money to provide food, clean water and medical supplies to Palestinians in need.

In March 2024, the OzKidLit fundraising auction for Gaza run by Karen Ginnane and Zewlan Moor raised nearly $40,000. Now, more than 12 months later, the situation in Palestine is even more heartbreaking with more than 51,000 people killed, including more than 18,000 children, and 1.9 million people displaced, so we have decided to rebrand and extend to cover the whole literary and arts community.

Endorsed by Omar Sakr and Randa Abdel-Fattah, and run in conjunction with Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN) and Readers & Writers Against the Genocide, the fundraiser will run for one week from 12.01pm AEST 7 May 2025. All money will be donated to established charities: Medecins Sans Frontieres, UNRWA, Olive Kids and Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

We thank all authors, artists, musicians, illustrators, publishers and agents who have so generously offered items to support this cause. We also would like to thank Emma Hay for designing our logos.
