About this item

Revel in Mendelssohn’s coming-of-age symphony and Tchaikovsky’s graceful Violin Concerto with two tickets to see Ray Chen at the Hollywood Bowl!

Ray Chen takes on Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a piece that opens with bright colors, passes through tender melodies and demanding cadenzas, setting up a fiery race to the finale. Hear Chen bring his expertise to this rich and raw work of brilliance, as he redefines what it is to be a classical musician in the 21st century.

David Afkham sends listeners on an adventurous, symphonic spree to the British Isles with Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony. Ruminating on the fond memories of his coming-of-age trip to Scotland, Mendelssohn relives his youth in this feel-good symphony.

This performance is generously supported by Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.

This package includes two (2) general admission tickets and a special meet & greet with Ray Chen. Concert will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 8pm PT at the Hollywood Bowl.

Ray Chen is a violinist who redefines what it means to be a classical musician in the 21st Century. Initially coming to attention via the Yehudi Menuhin (2008) and Queen Elizabeth (2009) Competitions, of which he was the First Prize winner, he has built a profile in Europe, Asia, and the US as well as his native Australia, both live and on disc.
