Kim McCarty is an American artist based in Los Angeles. She is renowned for her watercolor works which employ large swathes of washed color applied wet-in-wet onto a moistened sheet of paper. She is famed for her paintings of idealized children or youth, depicted naked, and also for her images of plants and animals, all of which are painted with great rapidity and spontaneity and with a swirl of largely monochromatic colors. She has exhibited around the world and her work is in the permanent collections of the Hammer Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY and the Honolulu Academy of Art.
