Polina Idelson: "

Throughout my life, I have strived to draw or sculpt in my spare time.

I have studied at The Art School in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) for two years.

In Israel, for a long time I didn't draw at all even though I always felt the desire and urge to create.

Here in Israel, I was lucky to learn from famous artists and educators as Julia Shulman, Lera Barshtein, Sasha Okun and Michael Yahilevich.

For many years I mainly worked in graphics – pencils, pastels, sanguine. I really liked watercolors, and I still appreciate the ability of watercolors to depict a subtle and quick change in the color of the sky or the reflection of the building in a puddle.

In Leningrad, my hometown, all shades of blue or cobalt paint quickly disappeared from my watercolor box.

Here in Maale Adumim, all shades of yellow and ocher run out from the box in the fastest way.

I have always dreamed of painting with oil on canvas. Here, thanks to outstanding artists who became my beloved teachers, I have been painting with oil for more than ten years.

I’m trying to capture the moment, remember its texture and color.

I have participated in a number of group exhibitions at Jerusalem House of Quality, Yad Vashem and in Moshe Castel Museum of Art – and three years ago I had my solo exhibition in Babel gallery in Jerusalem".
