The complex visual ecology of Katherine Hattam centres on a deeply felt symbiosis between the autobiographic, symbolic and historic. Mapping the world through her home, the Melbourne artist chisels links between self and other by presenting landscapes, objects, people and histories of profound personal resonance.
Katherine Hattam is a well-respected Australian artist who has exhibited extensively throughout Australia, over her career spanning more than forty years. Her 2015 survey show, ‘Desire First’ at Deakin University Art Gallery was widely acclaimed. Hattam was a finalist in the National Works on Paper Award (2018) and Geelong Painting Prize (2018) and Kedumba Drawing Prize (2008, 2001) and her work is held in numerous major private and public collections including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Artbank, Art Gallery of South Australia, Bendigo Art Gallery and Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art.
Katherine Hattam has chosen to donate 100% of the proceeds from this work to the WWF - Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund.
WWF has launched a global Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund to supply urgent care to wildlife organisations. Across the country, over 10 million hectares of Australian land has been burned to the ground. Over 1 billion animals have lost their lives so far, including thousands of koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, birds and other iconic wildlife. Your support is urgently needed to care for injured wildlife and restore their homes.
