About this item

My intrigue and admiration for the Northern Rivers NSW found it's anchor nearly a decade ago. Upon a process of rediscovering self, I returned to my enjoyment of art making and having turned this passion into formal study I am now about to embark on my final year of University. I believe all children are artists, we write, we play, we sing, we draw and paint. Some will stay with it, many will not.

This work was inspired by my troubled relationship with a family member. I had only started to paint as a habit and this work was purely emotive rather than any sort of formal or literal approach. Many relationships inherently are not without a power dynamic, perceived or not. It is said that a breakdown in communication is behind all conflicts. Both parties bring value to a relationship for it to be healthy and of mutual benefit. I was overwhelmed at the time with equal senses of futility hope and empathy to my self and the others involved.
