Kairan Ward "Lattice"

Kairan Ward is an emerging artist based in the Northern Rivers NSW. His work uses various mediums, traditional and non-traditional, to explore ideas of urban decay. Ward works with easily sourced construction materials and tools; including concrete, house paint, power sanders, utility knives. He uses these materials and tools to create extensive and focused abstract paintings reminiscent of the urban environment.

Lattice (2021) is an abstracted landscape inspired by recent Covid-19 lockdowns. The work draws from objects in the domestic landscape, these objects are subverted mixing foreground and background and playing with ambiguous shape and colour.
