About this item

You are bidding on an authentic hand made Ukrainian sculpture. This amazing piece of art was crafted by Sergiy Polubotko a notable Ukrainian sculptor and artist.

He is a member of both the National Union of Architects of Ukraine and the Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine. Polubotko's work is deeply influenced by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. At the beginning of the large-scale invasion, he contributed to the construction of defensive barriers with the Ivano-Frankivsk volunteer blacksmith community.

Polubotko's art often incorporates materials salvaged from war-torn landscapes, such as shell casings and ammunition boxes, transforming them into powerful symbols of resilience and creativity. His work is featured in exhibitions that highlight the strength and hope of the Ukrainian people amidst the devastation of war.

His sculpture Glory to the Sunflower is prominently displayed in the Museum of International Folk Art exhibition Amidst Cries from the Rubble: Art of Loss and Resilience from Ukraine (https://www.internationalfolkart.org/exhibition/6019/amidst-cries-from-the-rubble-art-of-loss-and-resilience-from-ukraine) from June 23, 2024 - April 20, 2025.
