24. Sam Harrison Bauble (Set of 3) 2025

Sam Harrison is a Brisbane-based artist and curator with cultural connections to the Kamilaroi and Wiradjuri peoples of Central NSW. Since completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2018, he has worked as an exhibiting artist, curator, artist assistant, and arts educator for young adults with autism. Sam is passionate about how art can shape urban environments and create spaces that are inclusive, healthy, and welcoming.

Sam has a long-standing relationship with Aboriginal Art Co. He was the first artist to work in the upstairs artist studio, creating a body of work over six months with the support of free studio access and informal mentoring. This experience directly inspired the Safe Space Residency, a program supporting emerging artists. In 2025, Sam returned as a mentor, guiding residency artist Desirai Saunders.

Sam’s Dinky bauble design, featuring a koala wearing a Santa hat, comes from his larger series Fair Dinkies. The series playfully explores how a single symbol, like the koala, is often expected to represent the diverse cultures of Australia, using humour and charm to invite reflection on national identity.
