Archie Moore is THE most talked about First Nations artist in current times. Representing Australia at the 2024 Venice Biennale, he took home the prestigious Golden Lion for Best National Participation - a huge milestone that really highlighted just how powerful and far-reaching his work is. His acclaimed installation Kith & Kin was gifted by the Australian Government to QAGOMA and Tate, London, and this monumental work is currently on display just across the road at the Gallery Of Modern Art.

Archie Moore is a Bigambul and Kamilaroi artist living on Quandamooka Country. Whether he’s building a full immersive installation or creating something small and personal on paper, he brings a thoughtful, steady hand to everything he makes, always grounded in personality and his unique lived experiences. This bauble is an ode to American art collective and band, The Residents, featuring their signature iconography, an eyeball wearing a hat. 

Working across diverse media, Moore’s practice explores identity, selfhood, and national histories, producing works that are both deeply personal and politically resonant. In 2018, Griffith University Art Museum presented a solo exhibition of his work, Archie Moore 1970–2018, and in 2024 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Queensland University of Technology in recognition of his outstanding contribution to contemporary art.
