Tamika Grant-Iramu is a Brisbane-based artist, born in 1995, and has Papua New Guinean, European and Torres Strait Islander heritage. She is a wonderfully talented artist and is represented by One Space Gallery, Brisbane. 

This year, Tamika, a valued supporter of Aboriginal Art Co, brought her creative expertise to our community by running a Relief-Print Workshop sharing her artistic and technical skills and we hope to have her back again soon.

A graduate of the Queensland College of Art, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2017, majoring in Interdisciplinary Print Media. Since graduating, she has focused on developing her practice in relief printmaking. Tamika’s work is deeply inspired by the natural environment around her, particularly the often-overlooked details of native flora. Through her relief print carving, she captures the subtle intricacies of plant life, using the unpredictability of the carving process to allow new forms to emerge. This spontaneous approach mirrors the fluidity and strength of the natural landscapes she engages with, creating a unique dialogue between herself, her medium, and the environment. As a landscape artist, Tamika immerses herself in the topographies she encounters, using relief print carving as a tool to capture her visceral impressions of place. Her work also explores the intersection of her Papua New Guinean, European, and Torres Strait Islander heritage, blending cultural traditions and storytelling techniques from these diverse influences. In doing so, Tamika uses her creative practice to deepen her connection to her cultural identity and explore the many threads of her personal and ancestral story.
