Dylan Bolger is a proud Maiawali, Karuwali, Pitta-Pitta, and Gomeroi artist renowned for his bold experimentation with various mediums and techniques. His works are often hand-drawn and intricately detailed, reflecting his background in architecture. Dylan’s artistic journey includes an eight-week residency at the Aboriginal Art Co studio, where he created a compelling body of work for his exhibition Leaf SZN. The centerpiece of Leaf SZN is a triptych—Sixty Two, Sixty Three, and Sixty Four—which depicts the Macaranga leaf in fine, contour lines across three ply boards. This ambitious work took Dylan the entirety of his residency to complete. Week after week, visitors to the studio could watch the Macaranga leaf evolve and grow, as if in real time, mirroring the natural process of regeneration. Just like the plants that inspired it, Dylan’s exhibition has expanded beyond the Vault Gallery into all corners of Brisbane.
