About this item

This beautiful queen-size pink and black flowered quilt was the final project Barb Stone quilted before her death last October from breast cancer. She battled for nearly a year, all the while piecing together this gorgeous legacy of her talent, along with her husband, Larry, from Lyndon.

Larry said he and Barb were avid quilters, making many quilts together over the years, along with their daughter, a sister and two nieces! Barb came up with the design during her breast cancer journey. They call themselves “piecers”, which means they don’t hand sew the quilts like traditional quilters do. They use a sewing machine to stitch them together. He said they have never made the exact same quilt twice. Larry cut out all the pieces and ironed them. Barb sewed the pieces together with her machine and he sewed on the binding. They finished it shortly before her death.

Larry is hopeful that this quilt will bring comfort and happiness to someone, just as quilting was a very happy pastime which he and Barb enjoyed with their family.
