Signed copies of two books by Helen Burns, a set of Beeswax Wraps and Mother India Incense
About this item
Lismore was my home in the sixties and seventies. I've seen many floods in that time but my heart is truly breaking after this one. My offerings are two recent publications. A novel, Andal's Garland ~ the fragrance of a young girl's love endures a thousand years, and its companion volume, A Garland of Love ~ illuminating the verses of Andal, the mythical poet-saint who lived in eighth century South India where her songs are still sung in temples today. The illustrations accompanying each of the thirty verses in A Garland of Love are the work of photographic artist Alison Taylor, who was also a Lismore local. Mother India incense is handmade in Pondicherry, a town that plays a small part in Andal's Garland. When I'm not writing I make Planet Bee beeswax wraps in my garden.
'Those who've succumbed to India's magical pull will find Burns the perfect guide on a path to the feet of Andal, an extraordinary girl "with a green parrot perched on her shoulder" who embodied the transformative power of love.' Susan Kurosawa
