About this item

An truly epic wine from the Priorat region of Catalunya, Spain, this nearly 100% Grenache wine is from a single vineyard in the village of Gratallops.

Long-held as one of the benchmark wines in terms of absolute top quality for all of Spain, this 2013 vintage was scored at 100 points when released and, from 2017 onwards, it is now a certified "Gran Vinya Classificada" for DOQ Priorat, a certification equivalent to Grand Cru for the region.

This wine has graciously been donated to the auction for the winery and comes directly from their own archive.

Update at 9:43pm, 28 March 2022

As can be seen by the updated photo that's of the wine being bid upon, the bottle is in an excellent state, coming from Palacios's own, temperature-controlled cellar in the village of Gratallops.

The 2013 was comprised of 90% Grenache, 8% Carignan, and 2% various white varieties in the vineyard. Vines are 85-100 years old and the parcel the wine comes from is 1.4ha in size and is in fact a smaller selection of the larger 5ha of the total, north-facing slope which was harvested on the 4th of November, 2013.

When released, there were only: 640 standard bottles, 25 magnums, 5 double magnums, and 2 jeroboams. Needless to say, this is now a very rare bottle, found in this state of provenance from the cellar.
