Commentary: I'm a plein air painter - out in all weathers recording the rapidly changing light, colours and seasons. Close scrutiny of a particular place and time makes me aware of how beautiful and precious this world can be. The transience of the moment perhaps makes it all the more so. I loved the late afternoon light hitting the trees - turning them golden and the peek of the gold and marble of the Albert Memorial. As a child I spent many happy hours kicking leaves and running around Queen's Gate and clambering up and down the steps of the memorial. As an adult I often walk in Kensington Gardens so I have a deep affection for this place as well.
