Working professionally in glass since 1981, Karen’s glass has been exhibited and offered through galleries across the US. It has been requested by the White House and is now in the archival collection. Her glass has been accepted in shows curated by the past directors of the Smithsonian Museum and of Pilchuck Glass.
Karen was featured in the book “Your Career in Craft” by Prof. Elwyn Hayslip . Her work was featured in “Photographing Art, Craft and Collectibles by Steve Meltzer. Her glass has been highlighted in issues of The Crafts Report Magazine and showcased in Glass Art Magazine. Her fused glass series “Sunscapes” was shown on television’s “Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood”.
As a contributing editor, Karen’s articles have been published in: GLASS Craftsmen magazine, The International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground: Glass, the E-mag artglassinfo.com, Fired Arts & Crafts magazine and Stained Glass Quarterly. Teaching is a major part of Earthstar Glass. Karen teaches private classes at her Huntsville, AL studio in both cold and kiln-formed glass. She also teaches at Burritt On the Mountain Folk School. Her teaching resume includes: the John C. Campbell Folk School, Arrowmont School of the Arts and Crafts, The Appalachian Center for Crafts, Bullseye Glass, Uroboros Glass, Hollander Glass (Texas and Georgia), and Weisser Glass in Md. Additionally, she has taught specialty classes for Art Museums, Botanical Gardens, Clubs, Guilds, and Design Centers. She also has created custom designs for homes, businesses, and galleries.
