Sasha Baskin’s weaving and drawing work explores the intersection of craft and classical rendering. She uses traditional weaving and lace making processes in combination with source imagery from reality television to address the intersections between analog and digital technologies. Trained in classical drawing, Baskin received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014 and worked as a portrait artist for several years. Transitioning to craft and studying weaving, natural dyes, and ikat dye resist processes, she received her Master of Fine Arts in Craft and Material Studies in 2018.

Her exhibition record includes solo and group shows at institutions including Arrowmont, Anderson Gallery in Richmond VA, Visual Arts Center in Austin TX, Portland State University in Portland OR, and JM Gallery in Dallas TX. In 2019 she received the Trabue Professional Scholarship for Women to pursue her digital weaving research at the Jacquard Center in Hendersonville, NC, and the opportunity to present her work at the 2019 College Art Association conference. She was a 2018-2019 Artist-in-Residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Baskin lives and works in Baltimore, MD.
