About this item

Hybrid
Katherine Barnes
Size: A2 print on art card with glass frame
Photomechanical print on premium A2 Rag 310gsm art paper framed

I was born in Hiroshima as a daughter of my war bride mother and Australian military officer, who was awarded a BEM for services to the Commonwealth in 1953, on the Coronation visit of Her Majesty the Queen of England. I grew up in Australia and was educated here. I hold a Masters’ and two other Art degrees.

Appropriation is a new concept in contemporary Art for the C21st millennial reading. I like to communicate for a visual literate audience who bring their own world view and connections to a topic. By collating the image together, I am placing a statement of fact along with a significant manoeuvre of space and iconography to compose a retina log of emotive applications. It is Art for the 21st Century. Experiential.

A C21st war is unrecognisable. Peace to Ukraine.

Katherine is an exhibiting artist, from age 9 and is represented in private collections and galleries across 4 states of Australia and recently in the permanent collection at Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery commemorative, 130 year reopening.
