Evoking mystery and a smokey wonder, Reed’s work in glass exhibits a feminine form draped in grasses, creatures, and a crescent moon. The golden ornate frame highlights the elevated portrait and contrasts with the blue composition. What does the form think of when they look at you? Is she amongst the sky or submerged underwater? Maybe you are starting a collection or looking to add; this will be another great piece to add to you collection.
Working professionally in glass since 1981, Karen’s glass has been exhibited and offered through galleries in 10 states and two art museums (Huntsville Museum of Art (Huntsville, AL) and Knoxville Art Museum (Knoxville, TN). Her glass has been requested by the White House and is now in the archival collection. Her glass has been accepted into shows curated by the past directors of the Smithsonian Museum and Pilchuck Glass. Karen was featured in the book “Your Career in Craft” by Prof. Elwin Hayslip and in “Photographing Art, Craft and Collectibles” by Steve Meltzer. Karen’s glass art has been written about in “Glass Art Magazine” and “The Crafts Report” and her entire fused glass series “Sunscapes” was shown on television’s “Sunday Morning”.
As a contributing editor, Karen’s articles have been published in GLASS Craftsmen Magazine, The International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground: Glass, the E-mag artglassinfo.com, Fired Arts & Crafts magazine and Stained Glass Quarterly.
