About this item

Have you or a loved one been working on a writing project that you need to have edited and proofread? Now is your chance to have a professional editor to edit and proofread your Manauscript of either fiction or nonfiction, of up to 75,000 words. Edit includes proofreading and one in-person consultation with Jan Weeks of Weeks Literary Service.

Jan is a member of the Authors’ Guild. Her awards include the Central States Fair People’s Choice award for her short story, “Anna, Old,” and the Guideposts magazine story contest for her personal essays, “Swept Away” and “Upon the Water.” The Centerville Code, a tween mystery, placed second in the Colorado Independent Publishers Association in the Juvenile Fiction category; she’s received the Grand Junction Writers’ Cooperative Excellence in Writing award;  her articles, “Boomers get pierced, seniors get inked” and “Gray Gourmet in a pickle: County can’t stomach meal service,” placed first in the North American Mature Publishers’ Association national journalism contest.

She has taught writing classes for Colorado Mesa University’s continuing education program, where her workshops (“Creative Writing,” “How to Write for Magazines,” “Show, Don’t Tell: How Do They Do That?” “How to Submit Your Manuscript,” “Evil Editor Tells All”) have won her a loyal following of writers who want to learn more about the process and those who want to brush up on their skills. Her client base includes fiction and nonfiction writers, court reporters, Christian writers, and essayists.

Many years of reading a wide variety of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, plus a life packed with adventure have enabled Weeks to edit with clarity and accuracy. Have you put a traveler on an interstate in 1955? Had a subject/verb disagreement? Had a defendant “wave” his right to a trial? Then you need an editor.

Jan Weeks’ prompt service, reasonable rates, and extensive knowledge base can help you get started on the road to publication.
