Driven by a need to create pieces that are reflective of the work women do, Angela Caldwell honors traditional female craft with a contemporary approach. Using a dreamy color palette combined with hard and soft materials, Caldwell creates objects of adornment that reflect and honor female makers who came before her. Each piece speaks to the skills her female elders passed down to her through a modern lens. This necklace was created at Arrowmont to commemorate the memories she built as an instructor in 2021.

Angela Caldwell is a full time studio artist and is currently an MFA candidate, continuing her studies in jewelry and fibers. Her work focuses on memory and examines women’s role in society through traditional craft based techniques. She has years of teaching experience working with traditional and non-traditional students. Caldwell’s work has been shown nationally in several juried exhibitions and can be found in many boutiques and galleries. She lives and works in Bloomington, Indiana.  Arrowmont Connections
