World-building / dyspraxia awareness talk and signed copies of The Boy Who Stole Time by Mark Bowsher
About this item
Mark Bowsher is offering a talk at your school, local bookshop or similar to talk about world-building and dyspraxia. As an award-winning filmmaker and writer, he'll explain world-building using clips from films, building up to picture books and finally how you create pictures using words. He'll also talk about how dyspraxia shapes his writing and filmmaking, explaining how dyspraxia is often missed or dismissed and how it can effect so many aspects of someone's life and how it frequently co-exists with other neurodiverse conditions. Mark will also include five signed copies of The Boy Who Stole Time, his YA fantasy about a young boy travelling to a magical realm and being set three impossible challenges to save his mother's life.
*Please note, the visit van only take place on the UK mainland*
Mark has been writing since I was a child, having my first full length play, 'Not the Story of Me', performed when I was 20. Before going freelance as a writer and filmmaker in 2013, he made three short films which all won Best Short awards in the UK and the US. He's made films for clients such as The Big Issue, the London Bubble, the RHS, Santander, Unbound, Mind, Choice Support and ManpowerGroup. He's also directed 14 documentaries for Dan Snow's History Hit, including 'The First Britons' (written by Noo Saro-Wiwa and Mark) which quickly became the most-watched film on their platform. Mark's debut novel, 'The Boy Who Stole Time', was published in 2018 and was praised by Irenosen Okojie, Adam Roberts and Ashley Hickson-Lovence.
