1 hour with YA author and environmentalist Mark Ballabon about climate crisis fiction, and a signed copy of 'Home. My life in the Universe'

A one-hour conversation (to take place on Zoom or other platform) with acclaimed author, philosopher and environmentalist Mark Ballabon, member of the Climate Fiction Writers group. This would be excellent for schools, libraries, families, book clubs, climate activists and anyone interested in an in-depth discussion about the climate crisis.

PLUS a signed copy of ‘Home. My life in the universe’, suitable for readers 10 and above. Mark has been on a big school’s and libraries around the UK, doing presentations about his debut YA novel ‘Home’. Along with the issues of body image, bullying and self-discovery which the 14-year-old protagonist Leah encounters, there is a focus on a new approach to the climate crisis… how to treat the planet as our home.

Mark Ballabon is a philosopher, environmentalist and author who has been teaching and writing about personal and spiritual development for over two decades. He is the author of many published articles and several non-fiction books such as: Courting the Future: Preparing for a Different World, which is a collection of essays that explore the future in a visionary and practical way, including the climate crisis and climate change in the human.

During the past four years Mark has been developing a trilogy for YA readers. The first book, ‘Home: My life in the Universe’ was launched at Waterstones on Earth Day (22 April 2022) where he was interviewed by the Bookseller’s Charlotte Eyre. Illustrated by Grant MacDonald, Home is an original coming-of-age story that follows 14-year-old Leah on her journey of self-discovery.

Described by one reviewer as a book that,“should be given to all teens to help them on their journey through life”, it is a recommended summer read by The Scotsman: “Home is a thought provoking and delightful read.”

Home encourages reflection from a philosophical perspective on important contemporary issues including bullying, self-belief and the climate crisis,.

Mark lives in England with his wife and continues to be involved in a variety of creative projects with young people, including co-founding a successful international youth group.
