Carol Voyt "Revealing Triptych" - Detail Photographs of Arbutus Bark Printed on Dibond "Right"
About this item
The artist was born on the south coast of BC and has recently made Metchosin her home. With a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design, her primary focus for several years was ceramic art. Her ceramics emphasize surface texture and bold colour, creating tactile as well as visual appeal. More recently, she began experimenting with photography, with similar objectives focusing on texture and colour. “Revealing,” a triptych of peeling and curling Arbutus bark, was taken in Metchosin in February 2018. The subject shows the effects of successive summer droughts and other stressors – with unusual bark colouration that includes rose tones and even some areas with bluish hues, naturally enhanced by the late winter sunlight. This triptych won first prize at Metchosin Naturally 2018 Photo Contest.
