The word 'cross' is a noun, a verb and an adjective. The image of the 'cross' in this drawing is formed by four identical, repeated columns of small hand-written text - the ANC's Freedom Charter, of 1956. The Freedom Charter is largely considered as the foundation for the South African Constitution, drafted and adopted forty years later, following the first democratic elections in 1994. 

This drawing is direct and holds no secret. It is a simple, desperate call to action. 

It is a reminder to remember, to honour, to value, to hold and to vote
