Steven Gregory's body of work combines a wicked sense of humour, incredible technical precision and emotional profundity. His use of skulls and other human remains references the classical vanitas or memento mori in art history encouraging a reflection on mortality while challenging the taboos that surround it. Besides his embellished skulls, Gregory dedicates himself to ink drawings, stone carving, bronze and other media, including electronic parts and semi-precious stones. His work has been widely covered in the media, and has been exhibited to claim worldwide. He has had a solo exhibition at the prestigious Cass Sculpture Foundation in the UK, and significant numbers of works have been acquired by Damien Hirst's MurderMe Collection, which was exhibited en masse in the important survey 'In The Darkest Hour Let There Be Light' at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
