Eleanor Kanasawe was born in 1958 in Wikwemikong Ontario, on Manitoulin Island. Her art is inspired by nature and the traditions of her indigenous heritage. She uses a wide array of media including beadwork, birchbark, deerhide, and canvas. Her art has been featured at numerous galleries and museums, particularly in Sudbury, Manitoulin Island, and Toronto.
